This is the danger of having an economy that relies on agriculture. I am not saying agriculture is not the way to economic prosperity but it is inconsistent. We will always have these on and off season of economic prosperity. I think it is high time the Government and the people of Malawi change this country from the an agricultural dependent economy to a more industrialized economy. Our industries should take a huge part of the exports. Let us learn from countries like Singapore, who are physically endowed with natural resources but they have the human factor to their hand. Malawi is a youthful country with half the population below 18yrs of age. Though we not physically endowed with natural resources, we have what it takes to make Malawi to be a super economy. Lets use this huge chunk of the population to make Malawi a super economy. Shift our focus to this population, train them educate them to be entrepreneurs and let them be the salt and light of Malawi. As for the aging population they have to believe and forge ahead towards that Malawi they dream of. Things and times are changing, we cannot continue with the very same thoughts we had yesterday, lets get rid of the turf-ism and be innovative...
